O. Weidemann and children of Michigan City spent Monday here. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Lubke were hero from Michigan Mite opend Labor Day with relatives James Keys and daughter, Miss Jennie, of Joliet were with relatives and friends here Saturday.

Mrs. 'F. O. Barnes and children came early- this week from Michigan City from a weeks' visit before joining Mr. Barnes, who has been principal of the Roeske school for several years, but has gone to Indianapolis to become principal of the Flackville school.

Mrs. Radolph Timm, accompanied by her little nieces, Mary, Freda and let Debrick, spent Sunday with the former's parente, Mr. and Mrs. dore Spaeding. They were accompanied home by Mrs.

3 Several from here are attending the Fair at Benton Harbor this week. The Lakeside Vineyard Co. made their first shipment of grapes this week. A fine concert was given at the church Saturday evening to a large and appreciative audience. Mr.

and Mrs. George Edwards and little daughter of Michigan City visited his parents Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Cook of Chicago are visiting Mr.

and Mrs. S. Wire. Mrs. Cook is Mrs.

Wire's sister. Edward Minster and son of South Milwaukee visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Minster, last week. Lakeside celebrated Labor Day with a ball game in the morning and a picnic in Warren's woods in the afternoon.

Miss Lillian Edwards of Kalamazoo spent the latter part of the week with her parents, Mr and Mre. I. Edwards 1. 4 -5 Mrs. Geoghegan went to.

Basswood school opened Tuesday with Mr. English of New Troy as teacher. Wm Teeter and family went to Sonth Bend Saturday and returned Labor Day. Mrs. Benj.

Sawin returned this week from Chicago, where she had been for a week. Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Wright and daughter, Gertrade, of Chicago were calling on old friends in this vicinity Wednesday. Henry Hoffier, who was sent to New Orleans as meat inspector last Fall, has been sent back to Chicago.

He is now enjoying a vacation with friends and relatives in this vicinity. The roads bave been greatly improved just across the State line by being graded and graveled. Mr. was 80 unfortunate as to loose the horse which he had driven to the creamery for the past. four years.

ELM VALLEY. muich is spending the week with her Grandma Kiser. Mrs. Benson's aunt at. Caro, celebrated her 93rd birthday Sept.

Elm Valley school began last Tuesday morning with Miss Clara Dellinger as teacher. This makes the third year of her work in this school. Little Harry Reimer had an operation last week Friday at the North Western Medical Dispensary Chicago. The Drs. found it necessary to remove his tonsils and a growth that had formed in his nose.

Chris. Kiser, who came from Colorado a short time ago, is in not the best of health, as that country does not agree with him. He will make a trip up to northern Micbigan before returning West. Mr. and Mrs Shreeve Sandayed with relatives near Michigan City.

They say that the peach trees in that vicinity ri are so loaded with fruit the trees are ing down, limbs laying on the ground. Still the price runs from $1.00 to $1 50. J. Stoner has commenced repairs on bis house. When completed he will be turned half way around, new cellar under 8 portion of it, cement block foundation, new cistern, porch painted and other needed changes 80 you will: not know the old "Stoner Mr.
