Very curious, judging by the .ba1 file included; this, and several other Super Solvers uploads, has been cut from someone's set-up that was created to run all Super Solvers games in DosBox. Alas the folders are missing. I'm trying to reconstruct what I have to do to run it.

I used to play this game for hours on end at my grandmothers house as a child, (She lived far away so we had lots of down time during visits). So grateful this game has survived for others to enjoy. One of my all time faves!

I learned so much from this game as a kid and I think it is the reason I went into engineering as a career choice.

↑ ↓

Jojo 2020-06-15 -8 points

Ilike your game. Can I play now?

Wow this is a throwback! im glad my kids can learn and play these classic games! they love the "retro" graphics! they dont believe me it was high tech in my day! LOL! kids... *rolls eyes*

I'm sorry I exited the game and deleted the files from the dosbox directory.

This game has to be run on dos box if your system is windows 7 or greater. Dos box has a full screen option that can be set to true in the option.bat file in it's program file folder.

Place the extracted gizmos and gadgets at your root directory. Ie c:\gizmos and gadgets. I recommend renaming the folder to something simple like gizmos.

Now run dos box. Type the following commands and hit enter after each command. Please note that capitalization is important

MOUNT C C:\gizmos

C:

ssg -gv -so

Game should run for you.

This works in DosBox, however, it seems to be using a resolution that is too small. Some of the puzzles are impossible to solve because you have to match 4 things, when only 3 are visible.

I work with an autistic student who LOVES this game. Problem is, when I download it, it just gives me compressed files. I have unzipped them but it doesn't allow me to do anything after that. I have Windows 10. HELP!!!!

"Must be installed on Windows, do not use DosBOX!"

For Windows 7 and later it has to be run using DosBOX. It runs perfectly that way and It can't be played any other way.

hi would love to re live my child hood and play this on my computer....
why wont it work on windows 8???

↑ ↓

Jay 2014-12-20 3 points DOS version

This is great for being able to play the basic game, build the vehicles, solve puzzles, and throw bananas at monkeys, but it's not quite the same as the original. There's no voice, there's no puzzle customization (for turning off the puzzle types you don't like), and the music/sound is not quite what I remember it being.

↑ ↓

Phil Matic 2014-12-18 1 point DOS version

So can you guys play this on Windows 7 without the use of DoSBox? Or does it mean that you need to play it on an older version of Windows?

↑ ↓

JJT 2014-12-03 1 point DOS version

I can't even tell you how many hours of this game I put in when we got our first mac over a decade ago, the nostalgia is real

↑ ↓

Lamecodename 2014-11-24 0 point DOS version

Still no sound, after changing the compatibility, on windows XP
How do I do what the readfirst file says?
There are a few command line switches that you can try if you have problems
getting the game to work.
To make sound adjustments:
-si pc speaker
-sb Sound Blaster
-sm Microsoft Sound System
-sn sound off
Graphics adjustments:
-gv VGA

For example, to run with Sound Blaster settings you'd type
ssg -sb (enter)
to start the game.

↑ ↓

Knowbody 2013-09-27 0 point DOS version

Since this is a 16-bit game, it won't run in a 64-bit OS unless you use DOSbox or something.
It might run in Windows XP, but I haven't tried.

to all those wondering about windows play use: dosbox there are plenty of guides on how to use it.

#4483 I'm not sure which game you are thinking of, but this game is part of the Super Solver's franchise, all of which I believe use the same character.

↑ ↓

Bigthan 2012-11-13 0 point DOS version

I got it working great using a DOS emulator, DOSBOX. It's free and if you look up the "Setup and Installation of DOSBox" instructions it's pretty simple to setup and use.

When I opened the downloaded file and extracted it with WinRar, it gave me a lot of different things. What do I click on to make it run?

↑ ↓

admin 2011-07-04 -1 point DOS version

This is a windows application, you need to run the setup from windows. Works very well of Windows XP !

↑ ↓

Reba 2011-07-02 0 point DOS version

I keep getting the "Given folder does not have an executable file" message when I try to load the unzipped folder into my D-Fend reloaded. Is there something I'm missing, here? This is the only game I've had trouble with so far.

↑ ↓

Rianna 2011-05-07 0 point DOS version

Ah, I was trying to get it to run on windows 7 64 bit, but I have an old xp box and it works fine on that. Thanks for the help!

↑ ↓

admin 2011-05-03 0 point DOS version

Just ran this on a windows XP computer, installation went fine.
What you should do though is :
Right click on the program (or shortcut, or setup if it doesn't work) and set compatibility mode to windows 95, or the oldest you can get.

↑ ↓

Rianna 2011-04-29 1 point DOS version

I've just downloaded the files, and although there is a setup file, there doesn't appear to be a program file. When I extracted the files, it gave a message about there being an encryption problem. I haven't had this problem with any other games. Anyone know what the problem could be? Thanks!

↑ ↓

Debbie 2011-03-15 0 point DOS version

Will this be able to run with DOSBox *with* sound? I already have a program but I'm unable to get any audio with the game :(

↑ ↓

admin 2011-03-14 0 point DOS version

Hi Dela, this is a windows application and you won't be able to play it on a mac without an additionnal software.
You will have to install it on a windows machine or install on your mac a software like CrossOver.

↑ ↓

Dela 2011-03-14 0 point DOS version

Has this worked for anyone on a mac?
