CCOPPERAS COVE POLICE DEPARTMENT2+ weeks agoAgencyFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE COPPERAS COVE, TEXAS – In a coordinated effort, the Copperas Cove Organized Crime Unit and the Bell County Organized Crime Unit, executed a joint operation with assistance from Coryell County Organized Crime Unit, and Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigations Division. On March 27, 2024, at approximately 6:49 AM, law enforcement officials executed a search warrant at a residence located in the 600 block of Mary Street. During the search, law enforcement uncovered an undisclosed amount of currency along with a substantial amount of illicit substances, including: • Over 5,000 grams of mushrooms • 57.13 pounds of marijuana • 41.4 grams of cocaine • Over 4,000 abuse units of LSD • Over 10,000 grams of THC concentrate products Two individuals, identified as 30-year-old Zenyth Charlotte Gale and 44-year-old Celesta Jane Montoya, both residents of Copperas Cove, were apprehended as a result of the search warrant. They face multiple charges, including two counts of Manufacture/Deliver Controlled Substance Penalty Group 2 or 2-a (1st Degree Felony), Manufacture/Deliver Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1a (1st Degree Felony), Manufacture/Deliver Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 (1st Degree Felony), and Possession of Marijuana (2nd Degree Felony), all within a drug-free zone. On March 28, 2024, Zenyth Charlotte Gale and Celesta Jane Montoya were arraigned by Justice of the Peace F.W “Bill” Price and each received a total bond amount of $40,000. CCOPPERAS COVE POLICE DEPARTMENT2+ weeks agoAgencyBURGLARY SUSPECTS ARRESTED On February 7, 2024 at approximately 3:54 AM, Copperas Cove Police Officers were dispatched to 307 Judy Lane, Willow Creek Apartments, in reference to a report of a vehicle burglary in progress. Upon arrival, officers gathered information from witnesses who observed a male subject burglarizing a vehicle before fleeing in a white sedan. Further investigation revealed there was more than one suspect involved. While officers canvassed the area, they located a white sedan parked nearby and found it occupied with a female subject who was eventually identified as one of the suspects. During the investigation, officers received additional reports of vehicle burglaries and a theft of a motor vehicle. Officers pursued investigative leads, which led them to a nearby residence where they apprehended a male subject who was identified as the second suspect. A subsequent search yielded recovered stolen property reported from the vehicle burglaries. The stolen vehicle was also recovered and returned to the registered owner. The suspects were identified as 17-year-old, Shania April Mackay Des Hawkins, and 18-year-old, Allias Dupri King, both residents of Copperas Cove. Both suspects were taken into custody without incident, and were each charged with ten counts of Burglary of a Vehicle, Theft $2500-$30,000 for the motor vehicle theft, and other misdemeanor charges. On February 8, 2024, Shania April Mackay Des Hawkins and Allias Dupri King, were arraigned by Coryell County Justice of the Peace F.W. “Bill” Price and each received a total bond of $49,000. The Copperas Cove Police Department continues to investigate this incident.28Like17

CCOPPERAS COVE POLICE DEPARTMENT2+ weeks agoAgencyApprehension of Wanted Felon COPPERAS COVE, TEXAS – On March 7, 2024, at approximately 2:27 PM, the Copperas Cove Police Department responded to a notification from the U.S. Marshals regarding the sighting of an individual with outstanding felony warrants in the vicinity of Wolfe Road and Golf Course Road. The individual was identified as 40-year-old Christy Romano Jr., a resident of Copperas Cove. Copperas Cove Police Officers quickly responded and located the vehicle Romano was in, initiating a traffic stop in the 1800 block of North Main Street. Upon stopping the vehicle, Romano, who was a passenger, fled on foot. During the pursuit, Romano made threats to shoot officers. With the assistance of the U.S. Marshals, Coryell County Sheriff's Office, Killeen Police Department's K-9 Unit, Department of Public Safety, and the Fort Cavazos Police Department, a perimeter was established to locate Romano. A short time later, a citizen reported a suspicious individual in the 400 block of West Anderson Avenue. Responding officers located and apprehended Christy Romano without further incident. Romano faces several outstanding felony warrants related to previous incidents of domestic violence. Additionally, he has been charged with making Terrorist Threats against a Peace Officer and Evading Arrest/Detention with previous convictions stemming from this incident. On March 8, 2024, Christy Romano Jr. was arraigned by Justice of the Peace John Guinn and received a total bond of $86,000. The Copperas Cove Police Department extends its gratitude to the neighboring agencies for their assistance and wishes to express sincere thanks to the vigilant citizen who reported the suspicious individual.28Like10
