Two prize oxen, owned by Frank Hollenbeck. This picture was taken on upper West Street, Honesdale, by Fermon E. McCown, age 15, who captured a prize at the previous Wayne County Fair for amateur photography. His parents were Wesely McCown, Erie locomotive yard engineer, and Martha Jane McCown. Standing in back at left is Fermon's grandfather, Mr. Sidney Benjamin (1830-1901), who previously owned the oxen and trained them well.

DYBERRY TWP. - The 159th Wayne County Fair is in full swing, through Saturday, August 14. Agriculture has been emphasized at the fair since 1862. On August 7, Jordyn Noble of Beach Lake was trimming her Poergo goat. Jordyn is a member of the Cherry Ridge 4-H Club. 4-H and FFA (Future Farmers of America) shows with cattle, goats, sheep and swine are planned all week, leading up to the 4-H and FFA Livestock Sale on the last day of the fair. Be sure to visit the poultry barn, the 4-H ice cream stand and the Wayne County Farm Museum , as well as the many other fair events. See the schedule and more information at www.waynecountyfair.com. The fairgrounds are one mile north of Honesdale off Route 191.

This year’s edition of the Woodsmen’s Competition at the 160th Annual Wayne County Fair is scheduled for Saturday, August 13. The event will once again be hosted by the Wayne Conservation District.

The 160th Annual Wayne County Fair gets underway Friday, August 5 with a bang! The first of two demolition derbies is slated to begin at 7 p.m. Admission to the grandstand for this exciting event is $10 for adults, $5 for children 12 and under.

There will be four days of harness racing action at the 160th Annual Wayne County Fair. Post times are: Saturday 1 p.m., Sunday 12 p.m., Wednesday 4 p.m., Thursday 12 p.m. Admission to the grandstand is free for harness racing.

Harness racing has been a staple of the Wayne County Fair since the far was first held in 1862. There is no extra price to watch the horses race, Saturday, Aug. 6 at 1 p.m.; Sunday, Aug. 7 at noon; Wednesday, Aug. 10 at 4 p.m.; amd Thursday, Aug. 11 at noon. There is also a Horse Pull, Friday, Aug. 5 at noon. The fair, a mile north of Honesdale, is slated August 5-13.

Numerous 4-H an FFA livestock shows are scheduled at the 160th Wayne County Fair (August 5-13), culminating in the 4-H & FFA Livestock Sale at the arena and large dairy barn, Saturday, August 13 starting at 10 a.m. The fairground are in Dyberry Township, one mile north of Honesdale off Route 191, the same location it has been since 1862.
